Prosthodontics

Why see a prosthodontist?

A Prosthodontist is a specialized dentist and has received an additional three years of training in esthetic restorations and in the replacement of teeth.  Additional training for prosthodontists is earned through a university or hospital-based advanced education program that is accredited by the American Dental Association.

In some cases, a general dentist may need to refer you to a prosthodontist for complex cases.  Prosthodontists are trained specifically for full-mouth reconstructive cases, esthetic smile makeovers, dental implants, crown and bridges, temporomandibular disorders (TMD), and fixed (also known as “All on 4” or “same day smiles”) or removable dentures.

Choose a prosthodontist because of their extensive knowledge and experience.  Prosthodontists provide an extremely high level of care to patients with missing teeth, or who have significant damage to their existing teeth.  They work with congenital defects, problems arising from trauma and/or neglect.

Why should you consult a prosthodontist?

  • If you have missing teeth and you need them replaced
  • If you have teeth that are loose or worn and need them restored for long-term functional use
  • Overall improvement of your smile
  • You have a removable prosthesis but prefer a fixed solution
  • Second opinion
