Full Mouth Reconstruction
What is a Full Mouth Reconstruction?
There are a few cases where the decay and damage to one’s teeth are extensive, and the dentist may recommend a full mouth reconstruction. As implied by the name, it’s a full remodel and rebuilding of your smile where the majority of teeth, and sometimes all teeth, in one’s mouth is replaced. With the combination of art and science, the health, function, and beauty of your smile will be restored.
In order to determine the best course of action, the following is expected to take place:
- A complete oral exam
- Full set of x-rays
- Complete review of your medical and dental history
- Discussion of the treatment plan with one of our patient specialists
- Payment options
- Questions answered
To achieve your new smile, a variety of treatments may be discussed during your consultation, which may include:
o Replacing a bridge or dentures, an implant functions as a replacement for tooth root customized to match your natural teeth
o A tooth shaped restoration that is placed over an existing tooth, and improves the appearance and health of misshapen or broken teeth
o Thin layers of porcelain that are carefully placed over the teeth, and can be for either cosmetic or restorative purposes
o Invisalign, Clear Correct, and traditional braces can correctly align teeth, which could also decrease the stress on the facial muscles used during chewing that cause headaches and discomfort.
o The infected pulp of the tooth is removed, and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and sealed, which could then be restored with a crown for protection and normal tooth function
Gum Disease Treatment
o When one has gum disease, the inner layer of the gum, and eventually bone, pull away from the teeth forming pockets, which can become infected.
